Purpose of the Position:

The Assistant Director works under the direction of the Director to assist with the overall management and operation of Kiddie College. This role involves overseeing daily operations, supervising staff, supporting curriculum development, ensuring compliance with regulations, and fostering positive relationships with children, parents, and staff. The Assistant Director will also support the Director in creating a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for all children.

Under the direction of the director, the assistant director is responsible for assisting in supervision and management of the classroom(s) in Kiddie College.

In the Director's absence, the Assistant Director will be responsible for overseeing all operational, staff, and administrative functions of the preschool.

Supervision of Others:

List of individuals that incumbent trains and supervises. Direct supervision of preschool staff, including teachers, assistant teachers, and volunteers. Oversight of classroom and child management with support from the Director.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

Operational Leadership:



Assist the Director in managing the overall daily operations of the preschool, ensuring smooth functioning across classrooms and programs. Collaborate with the Director to implement and uphold the preschool's policies, philosophy, and objectives. Support staff in maintaining compliance with state licensing regulations and Kiddie College standards. Help with tracking of classroom resources, supplies, and staffing needs.

Create a High-Quality Environment:



Support in developing and maintaining a safe, stimulating, and developmentally appropriate environment for children. Ensure that classrooms and play areas are well-organized, clean, and welcoming for children and staff. Supervise child safety and well-being throughout the day. Assist the Director in monitoring and evaluating curriculum to meet children's diverse learning needs. Implement classroom schedules and routines that promote both structure and flexibility for children and staff. Provide mentorship and guidance to teaching staff, helping them to create individualized learning experiences for children.

Work with Parents:



Foster strong, respectful relationships with parents to ensure their involvement in their child's educational experience. Act as a primary point of contact for parents regarding concerns, feedback, or updates about their child's progress. Support staff in conducting parent-teacher conferences and facilitating clear communication between the classroom and families. Coordinate and help plan family engagement events and activities to build a strong sense of community.

Support Staff Development and Teamwork:



Assist in the recruitment, hiring, training, and evaluation of preschool staff, ensuring that they adhere to Kiddie College's high standards. Provide ongoing professional development and coaching to staff to support their growth and ensure effective teaching practices. Promote teamwork, collaboration, and open communication among staff members. Encourage a positive, inclusive work environment through respectful, cooperative interactions with peers. Attend all required staff meetings, training, and professional development sessions.

Administrative Responsibilities:



Oversee classroom and staff documentation, including app activities and messages, injury reports, and other administrative duties. Help maintain up-to-date files on all children, including emergency contacts, health information, and progress notes. Assist in managing classroom inventory and supplies, ensuring that all materials are in good condition and adequately stocked. Support the Director with record-keeping and billing and ensuring compliance with all regulatory and licensing requirements.

Continually able to observe and respond to children's needs, emergencies, or conflicts that might occur during the day (inside or outside environment). Continually able to walk, stand, and interact with children for extended periods. Continually able to lift up to 40 pounds from the floor to a waist-high table. Continually able to kneel and maintain eye contact at a child's level. Continually able to sit on the floor to work with children and respond to emergencies quickly. Continually able to communicate clearly and calmly to children, parents, and co-workers.

Qualifications:



12 units in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field (required). Minimum of 3 units in a Supervision/Administration Early Childhood Education class. Minimum of 3 years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role in a preschool or child care setting. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Familiarity with licensing regulations for early childhood programs in CA. Current CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire). Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with diverse teams.

Preferred Qualifications:



Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.00 - $27.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
