LOCATION: Birmingham, AL

JOB SUMMARY: The PR & Communications Coordinator works with the Brand & Marketing Manager to develop and execute the organization\'s varied integrated marketing and communications plans.

This position is responsible for managing social media and local media partnerships, developing special event and fundraising collateral, and supporting internal and external marketing and communications efforts. They\'ll work cross-departmentally to ensure quality, effective communication that adheres to brand standards and organizational objectives.

SALARY: Low to mid $40,000s
  • Manage day-to-day operations on social media channels to drive engagement and fulfill organizational needs such as volunteer recruitment, donor stewardship, mission awareness, event promotion, etc.
  • Assist the Brand & Marketing Manager in the development and utilization of all key external messaging and positioning
  • Work with the Mission and Development Departments to identify media opportunities around wish publicity and internal events, crafting press releases and social media content that supports brand advancement objectives
  • Oversee opportunities for staff and Board recognition with local media, community groups, and more
  • Alongside the Brand & Marketing Manager, manage and execute a social media calendar, ensuring cross-departmental needs are met
  • Develop and manage relationships with key media partners statewide
  • Utilize innovative tactics to leverage in-kind media partners and creative vendors to market the chapter and our activities through PSAs and other donated media
  • Support the Brand & Marketing Manager with graphic design needs and other creative services as needed
  • Execute email marketing campaigns in concordance with partners and current messaging priorities and objectives
  • Create compelling and impactful wish stories with a focus on quality collateral, powerful storytelling, and consistent brand pillars
  • Submit quarterly chapter wish stories for national story sharing partnership (SSP)
  • Fulfill marketing needs for external events, as needed
  • Alongside the Brand & Marketing Manager, plan video production and coordinate photography for marketing purposes
  • Update and maintain chapter website
  • Grow and manage our creative storytelling partnership program
  • Track and disseminate media reports and mentions to ensure and increase brand awareness statewide
  • Support the Development Department with stewardship efforts, specifically, ensuring sponsor benefits are fulfilled and sponsors are notified of fulfillment post-event
  • Assist with the execution of event- or campaign-specific marketing strategies
  • Adhere to all Make-A-Wish Alabama performance standards and internal controls, policies, and procedures
