Performs skilled water safety work in preventing accidents and injuries at a County swimming pool. Safeguards patrons and enforces safety rules; instructs swim lessons for all ages; rescues bathers in distress; performs emergency water rescue techniques; administers First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), or Automated External Defibrillator (AED) when necessary. Provides positive and professional assistance to patrons; assists with routine facility maintenance.
QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification. Must pass a required skills test.
Must possess
the following valid certificates at time of application
American Red Cross (ARC) Lifeguard Training/recognized equivalent Certification
ARC or American Heart Association CPR/AED Certification
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification/recognized equivalent Certification
ARC Standard First Aid
OR
First Responder
OR
FL Emergency Medical Technician (EMT/Paramedic Certification)
Necessary Special Requirement: Must obtain ARC Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Certification within 90 days of hire. PREFERENCE FOR One (1) year of experience as a Lifeguard; valid ARC WSI Certification.
