Phlebotomy Supervisor to our lab in Omaha.

POSITION PURPOSE:



To supervise the personnel of the Phlebotomy Department, as well as performing and participating in the day-to-day operations of the department.

QUALIFICATIONS:



Minimum 5 years phlebotomy experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:



Monitors performance of department quality assurance, and safety polices to ensure completion and accuracy.

Assumes responsibility for the development and review of policies and procedures for the department.

Responsible for staffing and scheduling of appropriately qualified personnel to ensure sufficient coverage of department, client site locations and assigned health fairs.

Schedules phlebotomy draw times for patients with standing orders.

Maintains up-to-date files on patients receiving home draws.

Enters orders to create requisitions for requested home draw patients.

Conducts periodic employee performance evaluations including competency evaluations according to Laboratory management's protocol.

Monitors work time cards of the employees - edits this information into the time clock system. Submits approved work report for the department to payroll every 2 weeks.

Monitors mileage recorded by traveling phlebotomists. Turns in miles for final authorization and enters authorized miles into the time clock system for reimbursement.

Maintains communication with Laboratory management and marketing department to fulfill client phlebotomy requirements.

Evaluates and implements scheduling for new client facilities for phlebotomy services.

Conduct periodic cost accounting for Laboratory management to facilitate financial analysis.

Coordinates training and orientation of new department personnel to ensure consistent application of department procedures and laboratory policies.

Coordinates continuing education workshops and training of department employees to ensure all employees are current with changes in department procedures and laboratory policies.

Conducts in-service sessions at client sites to educate the staff on the correct procedures for blood draws.

Responsible for necessary disciplinary actions in department which may require any or all of the following: counseling, additional training, warnings, suspension, or termination.

Evaluate results for abnormalities and inconsistencies by following predetermined protocol and take the necessary action to alert the appropriate personnel.

Maintain confidentiality of all laboratory information according to laboratory policy.

Maintain sufficient current inventory of reagents and supplies according to laboratory protocol.

Contribute to the efficient operation of the Laboratory.

Participates in department meetings and Laboratory committee activities to maintain continuity, consistency, and communication within and outside the department.

Maintain confidentiality of all laboratory information according to Laboratory policy.

Performs essential functions of a phlebotomist when needed. Participates in the day to day operation of the department.

Punctual and regular attendance at the assigned work location.

Pay: $48,000.00 - $54,000.00 per year
