The purpose of the pharmacy technician is to assist the pharmacist with the day-to-day activities in the retail pharmacy, to assist with customer service, paperwork, inventory management and other essential functions.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Help patients who are dropping off or picking up prescription orders;
Enter prescription orders into the computer;
Create and update patient's health and insurance information in the computer; Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy, in accordance with local, state, federal, and company regulations;
Communicate with insurance carriers to obtain payment for prescription claims;
At point of delivery, verify that patient receives correct prescription(s);
Complete scheduled medication orders, place orders on shelves, and verify all associated paperwork;
Assist the pharmacist with filling and labeling prescriptions;
Prepare the pharmacy inventory;
Communicate with prescribers and their agents to obtain refill authorization;
Assist with medication packaging services.
Assist with stocking of any automated dispensing machines.
Maintain an awareness of developments in the community and pharmaceutical fields that relate to job responsibilities and integrate them into practice; Assist pharmacist in scheduling and maintaining workflow; Other duties, hours may be assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE; SKILLS & ABILITIES
Possesses knowledge of pharmaceutical care processes, drug preparation and distribution practices
Understands local, state, and federal laws, rules, and regulations governing the pharmaceutical care process, including drug preparation and distribution practices Knowledge of LRH Policies and Procedures
Knowledge of the care model
Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision and show sound judgment Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Pharmacy or Heath care experience is preferred but not required
CERTIFICATES & LICENSES REQUIREMENTS
Must register with the state and by the end of one year must become certified.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Should demonstrate strong oral communication skills. Must have basic experience/knowledge of computer systems and programs. Must be organized, self-motivated and have the ability to perform many office tasks. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
