Job Description





Primary Purpose:
Under direct supervision of a pharmacist, performs a variety of technical and clerical duties and tasks. The person in this position is a member of the Patient Centered Health Care Home team where each team member plays an integral role in providing patient-centered health care.


Essential Duties:

  • Assist in filling, packaging, and providing medications to patients under direct supervision of pharmacist.
  • Input patient and prescription information via computer entry to produce pharmacy labels.
  • Keep medications in pharmacy well organized.
  • Restock medicines and medical supplies to fixed levels as needed in the pharmacy.
  • Take inventory of medications, vaccines and medical supplies.
Place orders with vendors for medications and medical supplies for 915, 952 & KPHC Downtown. Coordinate appropriate purchase requisitions for medical supplies, medications and vaccines.
  • Record missing or damaged items, request replacements or credit from suppliers.
Rotate drug stock and dispose of expired drugs using proper disposal procedures. Review, maintain and log incoming and outgoing medications and vaccines from the pharmacy. Attach labels to medicines from Amerisource Bergen and other vendors and necessary Pick up medicines from outside vendors as necessary. Count, measure and/or compound drugs to be dispensed by pharmacist. Perform cashiering duties including collection of monies for services. Balance monies daily and resolve any discrepancies.
Regular and reliable on-site attendance is required.


Other Duties:
Perform other related duties as assigned Observe safety and security procedures; determine appropriate actions beyond guidelines; report potentially unsafe conditions; use equipment and materials properly.



Minimum Qualification Requirements:
Education:
High school diploma or GED equivalent. Pharmacy technician certificate; or two years equivalent combination of education and experience. CPhT certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board preferred.
Experience:
Two years working in a retail or community pharmacy preferred
Skills/Knowledge:
Familiarity with medical terminology. Familiarity with medications, usage & classifications. Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills. Basic computer literacy, with functional understanding of software programs including Word/Excel. Database creation and maintenance desirable. Ability to multi-task. Attentive to detail. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs Ability to collect data or coordinate the collection of data.
