Under supervision and direction of the Pharmacy Director and staff pharmacists, perform job duties in the following areas: unit dose, sterile compounding, cleaning of sterile cleanrooms, preparation of drug trays for the operating rooms, automated dispensing machines, pre-packaging of medication, quality improvement of Pharmacy, inventory control, and clerical work. May have access to, or oversight of, Protected Health Information (PHI) in the course of carrying out position duties. May assist pharmacists in communicating with patients and practitioners.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school graduate or equivalent is required.
Must be certified as a pharmacy technician in the state of Iowa or be enrolled in an approved pharmacy technician training program.
Must attain certification within one year of employment and keep the certificate in good standing.
Some college training in the science area is preferred.

Fills medication orders from labels generated by Pharmacists, medication kits, and medication requisitions. Make rounds to each patient care area to deliver medications, and IVs and to pick up credits as scheduled.
Prepacks and unit-doses bulk medication as appropriate and directed by the pharmacist. Maintains all required prepackaging documentation
Issues requisitioned floor stock to other departments within the health center, placing the completed requisition in the appropriate file for processing and billing. Reconciles charges to the floor stock utilization.
Assists in maintaining adequate inventory levels by recording all drug and supply needs. Assists in maintaining proper rotation of stock and refilling of unit dose bins from the back stock areas
Completes daily billing and other data into various computer systems within a timely manner and accurately.

Schedule: Full Time, Days, Monday-Friday: 6:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
