Job Summary
The Pet Aquamation Technician is primarily responsible for the precise, safe, and efficient
operation of the PET 550 aquamation unit and the strict maintenance of the chain of custody for every deceased pet. This role requires exceptional technical aptitude, meticulous attention to detail, and a commitment to rigorous procedural compliance.
Key Responsibilities
I. Technical Operation of Aquamation Equipment
? PET 550 Management: Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot the PET 550 water-based
cremation unit according to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
? Loading and Unloading: Execute the safe, respectful, and physically accurate loading
and unloading of pets into the aquamation unit.
? Process Monitoring: Monitor cycle parameters, temperature, and time to ensure the
complete and proper technical execution of the aquamation process.
? Remains Processing: Perform the specialized post-process handling, including the
washing, drying, and final processing of the skeletal remains using designated equipment.
? Routine Maintenance: Conduct scheduled daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning,
lubrication, and basic preventative maintenance on the PET 550 and related processing
tools to ensure continuous operation and regulatory compliance. Immediately report any equipment malfunctions.
II. Rigorous Chain of Custody & Inventory Control
? Intake Protocol: Execute the secure check-in of every pet, cross-referencing intake
manifests (from clinics or owners) with physical pet identification and requested services.
? ID and Tracking: Implement and enforce a zero-error chain-of-custody system. This
includes:
o Applying unique, tamper-proof ID tags or tracking codes at intake.
o Documenting the precise location and status of the pet at every stage (storage,
loading, processing, cooling, packaging).
o Utilizing facility management software (LIMS or similar) to digitally log and
track every step of the process.
? Documentation: Maintain comprehensive, accurate, and legible records of all
operational parameters, pet weights, processing times, and disposal logs.
? Packaging Accuracy: Ensure the final remains (ashes) and memorial items are packaged
exclusively with the matching tracking ID. Perform and document a final, two-person
verification of ID tags before packaging and release.
III. Compliance, Safety, and Facility Management
? Biohazard Handling: Adhere to all protocols for the safe and sanitary handling of
deceased pets and biological waste, including the proper use of Personal Protective
Equipment (PPE).
? Chemical Management: Follow strict safety guidelines for handling and disposal of
process solutions and cleaning chemicals.
? Facility Organization: Maintain a clean, organized, and audit-ready processing area,
storage facility, and equipment staging area.
Qualifications
? Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in a technical, mechanical, or production environment requiring the operation of complex machinery and adherence to strict SOPs (e.g., lab technician, manufacturing operator, boiler room
attendant).
? Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Technical certification or
vocational training is highly preferred.
? Technical Skills: Proven mechanical aptitude and comfort with operating,
troubleshooting, and maintaining electromechanical equipment. Proficiency with data
entry and inventory management software is required.
? Attributes: Must demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, uncompromising integrity,
and a systematic approach to process management.
