Overview


Join our dynamic team as a Peer Mentor and become a vital support system for individuals navigating behavioral health challenges. In this paid role, you will leverage your lived experience and professional skills to inspire hope, foster resilience, and guide others toward positive change. Your energetic and compassionate approach will empower mentees to overcome obstacles, develop coping strategies, and achieve their personal goals within a supportive environment. Duties



Provide empathetic mentorship to individuals facing behavioral health, mental health, or addiction challenges, fostering trust and motivation. Utilize crisis intervention techniques to de-escalate situations and ensure safety for all parties involved. Support mentees through crisis management by assessing immediate needs and connecting them with appropriate resources or professionals. Apply motivational interviewing strategies to encourage behavioral change and reinforce positive decision-making. Document interactions accurately using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, maintaining confidentiality and compliance with privacy standards. Collaborate with clinical staff and social workers to develop personalized support plans tailored to each mentee's needs. Offer guidance on navigating behavioral health services, including addiction counseling, mental health counseling, and social work resources.

Qualifications



Lived experience with behavioral health recovery or addiction recovery is highly valued and essential for understanding mentees' perspectives. Demonstrated skills in crisis intervention and crisis management to handle emergency situations effectively. Knowledge of behavioral health issues, mental health counseling techniques, and addiction counseling principles. Strong mentoring abilities with a passion for empowering others through supportive guidance. Familiarity with motivational interviewing methods to facilitate behavioral change conversations. Experience working with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems for documentation purposes is preferred. Excellent communication skills, active listening abilities, and a compassionate demeanor are essential for success in this role.
