We are looking for individuals with a solid foundation in recovery and with a passion for helping others to assist clients in their recovery from substance use and co-occurring disorders. Using a strengths-based model, the Housing Peer Mentor would provide empathetic and engaging support and coaching, as well as assisting the client to develop problem solving skills. It is imperative that the Housing Peer Mentor provide unconditional positive support in an empathetic and hopeful manner during the recovery journey.

Responsibilities include:

Actively identify and represent as a person in recovery. Provide advocacy for individuals who may need multiple services and require assistance in gaining access to mental health, substance use, social, vocational, educational, housing, public income entitlements and other community services. Assist case manager by explaining purpose of linkage and reason for specific linkage recommendations. Conduct various recovery-based skill building groups. Collaborate with clients to create future planning goals. Assist house monitors with community oversight. Work cooperatively with other members of the treatment team. Report to assigned supervisor and actively seek out consultation whenever necessary or requested by supervisor. Work holidays when needed to maintain programming requirements. Maintain professional boundaries, etiquette, and attire. Attend weekly clinical meetings. Attend bimonthly staff meetings.

The hours for this position are primarily day shift but will require some evenings and weekends.

Applicant Requirements:

Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent (copy required upon interview)

Minimum of two years stable recovery



CPRM or ability to obtain MCBAP development plan required

CPRC credential preferred

Experience working with dual diagnosed clients

Experience in using a strengths-based model

Proficient use of computers with keyboard typing skills

Effective verbal and writing skills

CPR and First Aid certification within 90 days of hire

Valid State of Michigan Driver's License

Reliable transportation

Able to lift and carry up to 30lbs

Meet Federal, State, and local criminal clearance requirements

Pay: $16.00 - $17.50 per hour
