Overview:

Cedar Fair is looking for a dynamic Payroll Director to join Cedar Fair\xe2\x80\x99s Shared Accounting Services (SAS) team. The Payroll Director is responsible for directing all aspects of payroll operations, which include the accurate and timely payment of both salary and hourly associates for all payroll events (including but not limited to Regular, Overtime, Bonus, Equity and Special compensation) while complying with company policies and government regulations. This position will drive the business to adopt efficient, standardized processes and deliver effective and sustainable improvements for Cedar Fair.

This position collaborates extensively with leaders of Human Resources (HR), Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS). Workforce Management (WFM) and Timekeeping and Compliance (TAC) to develop efficiency gains, ensure timeliness, accuracy, and compliance in the execution of payroll responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop processes and execute on the strategic direction for the payroll function in support of multi-state locations and Canada.
  • Serve as subject matter expert for all aspects of payroll laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Direct and oversee all payroll functions including payroll processing, software updates, payroll general ledger coding setup, payroll policies and procedures, year-end processing, bonus processing, fraudulent check issues, Canada\xe2\x80\x99s Records of Employment, federal tax filings and other various payroll operation requirements.
  • Ensure the collection and reconciliation of statutory, voluntary and complex payroll deductions.
  • Serve as a primary stakeholder and resident subject matter expert for the payroll functions of Ceridian Dayforce.
  • Work collaboratively with leaders of the HR, HRIS, TAC and WFM teams to ensure accurate and efficient interfacing between HCM software (Ceridian Dayforce) and timekeeping software (UKG Dimensions).
  • Establish and enforce payroll customer service levels for department.
  • Evaluate departmental processes, technology, and organization for efficiency and make recommendations and/or implement improvements as needed.
  • Analyze payroll trends against company objectives and establish goals and metrics to support those objectives.
  • Monitor developments in other Cedar Fair departments and analyze impact to Payroll department.
  • Ensure that department practices and goals are aligned with other business partners.
  • Lead the payroll team providing mentoring, training, and encouragement within the department to promote professional, educational, and personal growth.
  • Document and record personnel-related actions completely and accurately in accordance with HR guidelines.

Qualifications:
  • A four-year degree or equivalent in accounting or finance from an accredited college or university. Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred.
  • Eight to ten years of multi-state and international payroll experience with a minimum of four years of payroll management.
  • Knowledge of both U.S. and Canadian federal, provincial, state, and local withholding, unemployment taxes and filings.
  • Experience with Ceridian Dayforce and UKG Dimensions, strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of dependent upstream and downstream activities that impact and are impacted by Payroll function.
  • Strong ability to develop positive and productive working relationships with management and associates across multiple locations.
  • Ability to multitask and meet competing deadlines in a confidential/secure environment.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and experience recording payroll data into a general ledger.
  • Ability to pass a mandatory (or random) drug test and background check, which may include, but is not limited to credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education, and personal references, pursuant to Company
