Job Description

The Patient Service Representative (PSR) - Call Center works as a member of the Health Ministries Clinic team in an integrated primary-care/behavioral health setting. The PSR assists providers and supports patient care by managing incoming and outgoing calls related to appointments, registration, and general inquiries. PSRs participate in staff meetings and staff training as required for the job role. The PSRs work closely with patients over the phone to ensure the accuracy of their appointments, personal information, and billing details.

Duties/Responsibilities:



Accurately enters a variety of information into the Electronic Health Record Answers high-volume incoming phone calls promptly, courteously, and efficiently Demonstrates courtesy, patience, and helpfulness toward patients and their families Manages appointment scheduling and keeps informed of appointment status Assists patients with registration forms and over-the-phone check-in processes Enters patient information accurately in the electronic health record Verifies insurance eligibility Verifies eligibility for sliding fee discount schedule Collects and accurately records payments and co-payments as needed Makes outbound calls for appointment reminders and follow-ups Escalates urgent patient issues to the appropriate medical staff Ability to maintain confidentiality of all medical, financial, and legal information, including HIPAA Follows HMC policies and procedures

Qualifications:




Minimum education: High school diploma/GED required 6 months experience in a medical call center, receptionist, or medical records role preferred Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information is required Experience with customer service and multi-line phones is preferred Computer knowledge and ability to work independently with little direction required Medical terminology/procedural knowledge strongly preferred but not required Bi-Lingual ability in Spanish is preferred, but not required
