Job Description


Montana Equine is seeking an enthusiastic, Patient Caregiver to join our team. We are a fun, hard-working, team-oriented practice, and we constantly strive to provide the highest quality medicine and best customer service around. The hours of this position will vary depending on the needs of the clinic and applicants must be willing to work split shifts, evenings, weekends, and holidays. We are looking for a team member who can follow directions, will embrace our mission statement and core values: Our mission is to offer quality veterinary medical services in a caring manner to all patients and their people. We recognize that the success of our clinic is reflected in the health and happiness of our patients and their families. (but not limited to):

  • Stall cleaning throughout your shift
  • Feeding and watering the horses
  • Daily patient treatments
  • Patient grooming
  • Moving shaving and hay
  • General barn maintenance to promote a safe and clean facility
  • General landscaping and property maintenance
  • Handling horses
  • Assist with taking radiograph and ultra-sound images
  • Trot horses during lameness exams
  • Help keep inventory both in the truck(s) and hospital fully stocked
  • Help with quarterly inventory counts
  • Help keep the office and clinic clean and presentable
The successful candidate must possess:
  • The ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments.
  • The ability to work as part of a team to provide consistent, quality patient care and client service.
  • Willingness to learn our Veterinary Software program.
  • Should have experience working around horses and is familiar with working in a structured environment.
Physical Requirements:
  • Be able to work in all types of weather, including extreme heat and cold, with fluctuations in temperature and conditions.
  • Must be able to list/pull/push up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to stand/walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time while traveling for farm calls.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, reach overhead and below.
  • Ability to visually assess horses and let the appropriate team member know if you suspect something is wrong.
  • Full range of motion to be able to interact with animals and provide care/treatment.
  • Ability to work effectively in an environment with exposure to dirt, dust, pollen, animal hair/feathers, chemicals, and other particulates.
