Job Description


1.0 FTE (40 hrs/wk); Monday - Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm. This position will require initial on-site training at the River Park Plaza location in St. Paul, and then will transition to a remote working role. Under the general direction of the Charge Integrity Supervisor and Manager, the Patient Account Representative is responsible for timely and accurate processing of patient accounts to both third party payers and patients/guarantors. Additional responsibilities are defined as those specific duties relating to the various revenue cycle functions as assigned by the Charge Integrity Manager, team goals, and hospital job performance standards. The hourly wage for this opportunity is $19.21/hour to $28.81/hour, with a median wage of $24.01/hour. Pay is dependent on several factors including relevant work experience, education, certification & licensure, and internal equity. Major Challenges:

  • Responsible for general claim submission as well as follow-up on specific accounts and specific payers.
  • Taking calls from patients and families regarding billing questions or concerns.
  • Working collaboratively with other departments within the Revenue Cycle to resolve claim submission issues, claim denial issues and instigate the claim appeal process with the appropriate areas.
  • Critical thinking and ability to manage shifting priorities in a dynamic environment to ensure timely and effective response to organization needs.
Required Qualifications:
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Proven problem-solving skills, conflict resolution skills in addition to excellent time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work and problem solve in a collaborative manner with other members of the department and staff from other departments.
  • Willingness and adaptability to learn and implement new and/or different processes and procedures.
  • Ability to independently initiate, research, analyze, and offer suggestions and support to department.
Preferred:
  • Two years of medical billing or coding experience that includes exposure to payer requirements, claims systems, and revenue cycle management.
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree or Medical Billing/Coding Certificate
  • DME Billing Experience
