Hello Friend! Sparrow Bakery is a busy, medium-sized, regional, wholesale and retail bakery specializing in hand laminated croissants and crave-worthy caf\xc3\xa9 foods. We are searching for several FT (4 days/week) or PT (2-3 days/week) Apprentice Bakers to add to our team of retail cafe bakers at our NWX location, 2748 NW Crossings Drive, Bend, OR 97703. Come GROW your skills in artisanal pastry baking! $18.50-$19 /hour, +$5-$6/hr in tips, for 1-2 years food service experience. Sparrow is an employee centered company. This position requires an early call, 4am, and while this is a lifestyle change to be sure, we do attempt to reward this personal sacrifice in wages and carefully tailored schedules to meet your personal needs: FT with Sparrow is 4 days a week, so with 3 days off the clock each week, hardworking bakers are able to relax, rest, and make sure their personal life is in balance so they can continue to work those early hours. Bakers must be able to work at least one weekend day, as is somewhat standard in food service, but we do not ask bakers to work both weekend days unless that is ideal for them, and we guarantee at least 1 day off / week with partners or spouses. Occasionally our bakers can also secure a mixed schedule, with a later start 1 or 2 days/week to help their weekly schedule to remain sustainable \xe2\x80\x93 there\xe2\x80\x99s always plenty of skills and shifts to learn at the bakery! Pastry Baking will help you develop or hone these specific skills: fine motor skills (all baking positions will require a lot of working with your hands, very few buttons to push at this bakery!), an attention to detail and aesthetic, a penchant for consistency and incremental improvements over time, as well as working with urgency and efficiency. Pastry baking can be satisfying work because at the end of each shift you will have an opus of products that you produced, and both the satisfaction in seeing those physical beauties, along with witnessing the customers\xe2\x80\x99 enjoyment of your work, can cultivate a real feeling of fulfillment in our bakers. You will be primarily responsible for shaping and baking our famous laminated dough products - if you are interested in learning how to make ocean rolls THIS is the job for you! Last year our NWX Cafe bakers shaped over 100,000 ocean rolls!!
