Class Summary

This is a part-time position with a maximum of 1,560 hours per year and is not eligible for paid holidays, leave, or benefits.


This class is responsible for the grounds maintenance of County facilities. This position supervises inmates who perform assigned duties related to grounds maintenance.

Essential Duties

  • Mows and trims grass, shrubs and trees, pulls weeds, and applies fertilizers, herbicides and chemicals to landscape and indoor plants.
  • Assists in maintaining the overall safety of grounds and equipment for public and County use.
  • Maintains indoor plants.
  • Picks up trash, recyclables, and other debris from grounds.
  • Operated lawn mowers, trimmers, edgers, and other equipment and performs basic maintenance.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
  • Supervises inmates. Incumbent will receive training.
Other Job Requirements/Information
  • This job is a safety sensitive position that will require a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing.
  • The incumbent is required to pass the background investigation for Certification of Inmate Supervision prior to employment.
Grade
The grade for this position is 97.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma, or GED
  • Two years of grounds maintenance experience
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
  • Valid driver\'s license from state of residency
Preferred Qualifications
  • One year of supervisory experience preferred.
