Job Summary

We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated caregiver for a 24 year old Male in downtown Portland looking for help Monday's and Fridays 9:30am-7:30pm. This is a temporary position. He lives independently near the PSU campus. He needs hands on support for ADLs including chores and service animal support. He also has a wheelchair accessible minivan his provider will need to feel comfortable driving. He also needs assistance with hand on household chores including laundry, garbage, recycling ect. Refilling meds, hands on support for feeding and walking service animal. It is important that his providers work with him and his behavior specialist and follow outlined PBSP. He prefers someone who understands and respects his gender identity.

Duties

Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management. Provide support to individuals with developmental disabilities and those experiencing dementia, ensuring their unique needs are met. Foster a positive environment by encouraging social interactions and participation in community activities. Maintain documentation of care provided, adhering to HIPAA regulations and resident rights. Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and other staff to develop and implement individualized care plans. Monitor and report any changes in residents' physical or emotional conditions to the appropriate personnel. Engage residents in meaningful activities that promote cognitive function and emotional well-being.

Qualifications

Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in a group home setting is preferred. Knowledge of dementia care practices is an asset. Familiarity with resident rights and HIPAA regulations is essential. Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients. Compassionate nature with a commitment to providing high-quality care. Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also demonstrating initiative when needed. Previous experience as a nurse or in a healthcare-related field is a plus but not required.
