Job Summary

We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated caregiver for a 10 Year old boy in NE Portland looking for help Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 2-7pm Saturday or Sunday 1-8. days and times can be a bit flexible. He enjoys Technology, and likes to build Legos and roblox as well as going to museums and local activities (Rose festival, etc.). He goes to day camp in the summer and is working on making friends. He enjoys baking and helping others. Best fit would be able to set clear boundaries and help him keep his routine. They have 3 dogs and 2 cats and while there is Cannabis smoking in home it is never in common spaces or where he is. DSP doesn't need to have a car.

Duties

Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management. Provide support to individuals with developmental disabilities and those experiencing dementia, ensuring their unique needs are met. Foster a positive environment by encouraging social interactions and participation in community activities. Maintain documentation of care provided, adhering to HIPAA regulations and resident rights. Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and other staff to develop and implement individualized care plans. Monitor and report any changes in residents' physical or emotional conditions to the appropriate personnel. Engage residents in meaningful activities that promote cognitive function and emotional well-being.

Qualifications

Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in a group home setting is preferred. Knowledge of dementia care practices is an asset. Familiarity with resident rights and HIPAA regulations is essential. Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients. Compassionate nature with a commitment to providing high-quality care. Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also demonstrating initiative when needed. Previous experience as a nurse or in a healthcare-related field is a plus but not required.
