Nature of Work
Parks/Beech Fork State Park/Cabell and Wayne Counties - Under supervision of the Park Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent, this employee will lead and/or perform work at various work station operations and maintenance tasks on Beech Fork State Park. Employee is highly visible to the public and serves the public through interpretation and notification of park rules, regulations, and resolving guest conflicts. Employee assists other staff, performs as a lead worker, and performs individual hands-on work in the daily operation of various park operations. Performs a wide range of maintenance duties including: trash and litter pickup; landscaping and grounds keeping; park boundary and trail maintenance; snow removal; housekeeping and janitorial work; plumbing and electrical repairs; painting; floor care and maintenance; wash vehicles; vehicle maintenance; repair toilets and sewer systems; load and unload supplies; move and replace appliances; and inventories supplies. Provides logical, safe solutions for guests and facilities during breakdowns while notifying supervisor including but not limited to: ac/heat units; electric outages; phone outages; water leaks; kitchen and food service equipment; wastewater lift stations and treatment plant; and other major equipment failures. Performs monthly inspections of equipment. Performs on-the-job training to staff, assists with wildlife control issues, and other duties as required. Desired knowledge and skills include good customer service skills, verbal and written communication skills, office and sales equipment knowledge; knowledge of building and grounds maintenance; ability to organize and plan efficient completion of tasks; and the ability to operate tractors, dump truck, chain saw, mowing equipment, and other motorized equipment. Under the direction and scheduling of supervisors, employee must be available to work all shifts necessary for park security, maintenance, and park operations at Beech Fork State Park. This may include rotating shifts, weekends, evenings, days, and holidays. Must be licensed or eligible to operate a motor vehicle in West Virginia. Performs other duties as assigned. Regular attendance required.

Minimum Qualifications
Training: Graduation from a standard high school or the equivalent.
Substitution: Completion of the tenth grade and two years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience working in a public recreational area.
