As an Outbound Supervisor, you will provide leadership and day-to-day management of the shipping department's operation. While executing our Service Level Agreement to customers daily, this position ensures timely outbound activities for customer products. The Outbound Supervisor will ensure that team members are executing their daily responsibilities and following the designed workflow processes and procedures while prioritizing safety, accuracy, and productivity.



Salary Overview:



The salary for this role starts at $60,000 per year based on experience.



Hours:



The hours for this role are Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm.



Outbound Supervisor Responsibilities include:



Prioritize, pick, and audit customer orders for accuracy. This is very much a working supervisor position that assumes leadership in a fast-paced environment. Stage orders and load trucks for delivery. Ensure that there is a qualified driver for every route scheduled to run on any given day; regularly review driver staffing requirements to ensure adequate levels of staffing and efficient route performance. Review and submit weekly Contract Driver payroll. Review and obtain team member signatures on the Operation of Vehicle Policy (for new team members during onboarding, for all team members twice per year). Oversee daily obstacles such as vehicle breakdowns, incorrect deliveries, etc., and manage positive recovery with correct discipline as needed. Ensure driver adherence to all safety policies and procedures. Execute onboarding and annual road tests for drivers. Support and execute continuous improvement projects/Lean culture Manage daily workload and assign productivity goals based on customers' demands. Ensure team members have the tools and resources necessary to focus on safety, cleanliness, and quality while maintaining a high level of productivity. Assure team members are trained and understand duties, responsibilities, and performance with established expectations. Analyze data and information to identify new opportunities for cost reduction and continuous improvement; provides thoughtful recommendations & best practice solutions. Achieve effective performance management of direct reports through observation, feedback, performance evaluations, corrective actions & consequences, and identification of retraining needs. Daily monitoring of the Samsara safety inbox that includes harsh alerts, distracted driving alerts, etc. Review, coach, and discipline as appropriate. Ensure DQR files are up to date. Track DOT medical cards' expiration dates and coordinate with drivers to ensure valid certificates. Install Samsara dash cams and gateways into new trucks and transfer between trucks when necessary. Conduct random audits of drivers via dash cams within Samsara. Conduct monthly driver safety training. Ensure all drivers receive the monthly safety training and that participation rosters are uploaded to SharePoint. Initiate accident reporting for all direct reports. Ensure maintenance and cleanliness of the bins. Support the cycle count program as needed. Oversee and manage cross-dock duties as needed. Ensure products are not damaged when loaded. Support customer returns as needed. Ensure the same-day processing of freight, small parcels, and E-commerce orders. Coordinate vehicle maintenance and scheduling.

Leadership Responsibilities Include:



Adhere to Suburban Automotive Service's DRIVEN values and align business practices to support the SAS mission and vision. Manage department revenue and costs within assigned budget; provide thoughtful recommendations and best practice solutions. Identify any gaps in processes and update procedures as required by system and/or process improvements. Execute the interview/hire process of all direct reports and support the process of indirect reports. Complete goal setting, development plans, and annual reviews for reporting staff on a timely basis. Coach and train team members to understand duties, responsibilities, and performance with established expectations. Ensure adherence to operating procedures, legal and compliance regulations, and IT Policies to minimize risk. Promote a team member-driven culture, including a focus on safety. Create and maintain open communication with team members, peers, management, and other departments.

Outbound Supervisor Qualifications and Skills:



Ability to read, write, and speak English. High School Diploma or equivalent. Consistent work history and superior attendance record. Must meet company background check and drug screen requirements. A clear driving record is required to pass the requirements of the insurance company. Knowledge of WMS/TMS/ERP systems as well as Microsoft Office. Demonstrated leadership skills within a warehouse/distribution setting. Understanding of key order picking processes, including various methods of order selection, packing, and shipping. Experience with order demand visibility and labor planning. Outbound transportation experience. Experience with transportation workforce management practices, specifically route assignment. Experience managing operational metrics, including on-time performance, driver overtime, and staff retention. Ability to provide clear directions and provide any assistance needed to complete these. Forklift certification, experience with parts picker, and powered pallet jack experience are a must.
