We are looking for an Orthodontic Assistant to join our successful & amazing team!

Summary: The Orthodontic Assistant will assist the Doctor(s) in both administrative & clinical duties including: prepare patient for procedure or exam, sterilize & disinfect instruments, set up instrument trays, prepare materials, & assist during clinical procedures. This position provides patient & practice support services, including, but not limited to, personal assistance, medical attention, & emotional support.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Work with clinical team each day on clinical startup & closing procedures.
  • Cheerfully welcome and seat patients.
  • Thoroughly educated with all clinical procedures & appliances and can perform each procedure efficiently in the allotted time or less.
  • Actively provide hand instruments & materials as needed to Doctor(s) during exams & procedures in order to help maintain patient comfort & Doctor\xe2\x80\x99s efficiency.
  • Effectively educate and motivate patient on proper orthodontic care including but not limited to oral hygiene and corrective/preventative measures.
  • Take high quality diagnostic imaging.
  • Accurately record treatment and appointment information in patient records.
  • Assist in sterilization duties.
  • Maintain hand pieces & instruments in good repair & sufficient supply.
  • Keep units stocked & monitor inventory levels in units & backstock.
  • Maintain clean clinical & patient areas by sweeping, dusting, mopping, sanitizing & disinfecting.
  • Assist with dental & medical emergencies according to OSHA & office procedures.
  • Adhere to strict safety guidelines & procedures to OSHA & office standards.
  • Always maintain the highest level of confidentiality to HIPAA standards.
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance & determining when & what kind of maintenance is needed.
  • Maintain CPR certification.
  • Use downtime constructively.
  • Maintain regular attendance & adhere to assigned work schedule & office policies.
  • Other duties & tasks, as assigned periodically.

Qualifications:
  • Detail oriented in order to work efficiently in small spaces & maintain patient comfort.
  • Excel in forward thinking in order to anticipate the needs of the doctor(s) as well as the patient.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills by talking to others to convey information effectively.
  • Demonstrate excellent active listening by giving full attention to what others are saying, taking time to understand points being made, asking questions as appropriate, & not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Demonstrate excellent reading comprehension by understanding written sentences & paragraphs in work-related documents.
  • Able to comfortably & efficiently handle multiple deadlines & task assignments.
  • Comfortable seeing & able to maintain a professional demeanor & attitude while working around blood & unpleasant smells.
  • Present in a professional, clean, well-groomed, pleasant, & cooperative manner.
  • Always maintain the highest level of confidentiality to HIPAA standards.
  • Adhere to strict safety guidelines and procedures to OSHA and office standards.
  • Flexible & understand that job duties may change from time to time & that this individual may be asked to assist in other areas of the office.
  • Flexible & understand that work schedule assignments may change depending on practice needs.
  • Able to work both independently & cooperatively in team settings.

Experience preferred but not required.
Arkansas RDA License is preferred but not required.
