The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing daily operations of OnCall Waste, ensuring safe, efficient, compliant, and cost-effective collection, transfer, recycling, and disposal services. This role leads operational teams, manages fleet and facility performance, and ensures compliance with environmental, safety, and regulatory standards while delivering high-quality customer service.
DUTIES & RESPONSBILITIES:
Operational Management
Plan, coordinate, and oversee daily waste collection, recycling, and disposal operations.
Ensure routes, schedules, and staffing levels are optimized for efficiency and service quality.
Monitor operational performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
Manage subcontractors and third-party service providers as required.
Health, Safety & Compliance
Enforce all health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
Conduct safety meetings, audits, and incident investigations.
Maintain permits, licenses, and regulatory documentation.
Fleet & Asset Management
Oversee fleet operations, maintenance schedules, and vehicle availability.
Coordinate with maintenance teams to minimize downtime and control repair costs.
Monitor fuel usage, GPS, and telematics systems.
People Management
Lead, coach, and develop supervisors, drivers, and operational staff.
Manage recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance evaluations.
Handle disciplinary actions in line with company policy.
Promote a strong safety-first and accountability-driven culture.
Represent and uphold Company Core Values at all times.
Financial & Performance Management
Manage operational budgets and control costs.
Track KPIs such as productivity, safety, service reliability, and cost per route.
Prepare operational reports for senior management.
Identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue enhancement.
Customer & Stakeholder Relations
Resolve operational issues impacting customers.
Support sales and customer service teams with operational insights.
Liaise with regulatory authorities, municipalities, and site operators.
REQUIRED SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
Minimum 5 years of operations leadership experience in logistics, transportation, environmental services, or similar industries.
Strong knowledge of safety, compliance, and operational best practices.
Proven experience managing teams, budgets, and performance metrics.
Ability to analyze data and translate insights into operational improvements.
Strong communication, leadership, and decision?making skills.
PERFERRED SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Business, Environmental Science, or related field.
Experience with fleet management, route optimization, and telematics systems.
Lean, continuous improvement, or process optimization experience.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
Primarily office and field?based work environment.
Occasional lifting up to 25-50 lbs.
Ability to work extended or non?standard hours as operational needs require.
Pay: $70,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
