Job Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Regular and punctual attendance at the assigned work location. Collect laboratory specimens for internal or send-out testing by prescribed laboratory methods of venipuncture. Maintain specimen collection materials by periodic inventory to insure productive use of time. Provide phlebotomy services at client health fairs. Maintain confidentiality of all patient information according to Laboratory policy. Participates in department meetings and laboratory committee activities to maintain continuity, consistency, and communication within and outside the department.

TASKS:

Perform safe, timely, and accurate phlebotomy procedures. Present a clean and neat appearance to clients as a representative of the company. Maintain daily tally of work completed. Maintain specimen collection materials by periodic inventory to insure productive use of time. Maintain patient safety by adhering to Infection Control Policies. Maintain co-workers' and own safety by adhering to laboratory policies for safe handling of specimens and contaminated equipment. Perform other duties only as phlebotomy supervisor requests or assigns.

WORKING CONDITIONS

:

Occasional handling of heavy materials. Frequent exposure to extreme sensory conditions (odors, specimens, etc.) Frequent exposure to potentially infectious body fluids. Frequent exposure to needles, both clean and contaminated. Occasional exposure to video display terminals. Frequent exposure to cramped or awkward positions. Frequent stressful driving conditions. Frequent exposure to natural elements. Frequent bending and twisting. Frequent deadlines under pressure. Frequent client contact. Frequent irregular activity schedules.

Telephone system Phlebotomy equipment Computer equipment; CRT, keyboard, printer, etc. Photocopy machine. Security system. Facsimile machine. Safety equipment.
