to join the Labor & Delivery team on a night-shift travel assignment. This role is an essential part of the obstetrical care team, providing support for both patient care and surgical procedures, including C-sections. The ideal candidate is dependable, adaptable, experienced in surgical support, and comfortable floating to other departments as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Provide basic nursing care and support to obstetrical patients under RN and provider direction.
Assist surgeons and staff during obstetrical surgical procedures, including C-sections.
Maintain sterile technique and identify/report breaks in sterility.
Prepare, handle, and understand the use of surgical equipment, instruments, and supplies.
Maintain accurate counts of instruments, sponges, and needles.
Follow surgeon preference cards and anticipate needs during procedures.
Respond appropriately to emergency situations.
Assist with patient care activities: vital signs, mobility, hygiene, transport, and comfort measures.
Document patient information accurately and maintain confidentiality.
Support the team by assisting with stocking, cleaning equipment, and overall unit workflow.
Communicate effectively with nurses, physicians, and team members.
Float to other departments as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
BLS certification required.
Surgical Tech experience required.
C-section experience preferred.
CNA preferred but not required.
One year nursing assistant experience preferred OR completion of a nursing assistant course within one year.
Two years hospital experience preferred.
Ability to work in fast-paced, unpredictable clinical environments.
Ability to stand/walk for long periods and assist with patient positioning or transfers.
