Performs radiographic and/or medical imaging and related procedures to assist in diagnosis and treatment of patients.
Provides direct patient care and evaluates outcome.
+ Prepares and performs routine diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine exams to best demonstrate the anatomical area of interest, respecting the patient's ability and comfort.
+ Maximizes productivity and efficiency within national benchmarks.
+ Performs imaging examinations using appropriate protocols established by the medical director.
+ Corroborates patient's clinical and menstrual history with procedure ensuring information is documented and available for use by a licensed practitioner.
+ Ensures all requested examinations are completed prior to releasing patient.
Maintains quality control and quality assurance in the assigned division.
+ Accurately prepares and receives and records radioactive material used for predetermined procedures for routine and special procedures.
+ Performs daily area surveys and weekly wipe surveys for detection of radiation contamination as stipulated by License and Regulating Agencies.
+ Demonstrates compliance with "ALARA" Standards by minimizing radiation exposure to self and others through the conscientious practice of radiation safety techniques.
+ Performs daily calibrations on all nuclear medicine equipment.
+ Keeps accurate and timely records on all radioisotope receipts, preparations, calculations, patient doses and disposals as specified by regulatory agencies and department policies.
+ Ensures all quality control criteria are met before any procedure is performed on a routine basis.
+ Calculates and prepares radioactive material using sterile and radiation safety techniques.
+ Performs emergency procedures for the proper and safe decontamination.
Communicates patient/family health care needs to the appropriate health care provider.
+ Provides patient education.
+ Communicates variances and/or significant events to appropriate caregiver in a timely manner.
+ Communicates with members of other disciplines to assure efficient quality patient care.
Participates as a member of the Care Team to achieve business goals, clinical/quality outcomes and customer satisfaction.
+ Provides assistance to team members as requested or necessary.
+ Participates on committees/councils as requested/required.
+ Communicates operational issues clearly and effectively within the team and outside the team as appropriate.

Education:
Vocational/Technical Diploma Graduate of an accredited Joint Review Committee on Educational Programs in Nuclear Medicine Technology (JRCNMT) program
Preferred: Bachelor's Degree Nuclear Medicine, Radiologic Sciences or Allied Health Sciences

Preferred: 1 year at entry level and above as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist
