POSITION SUMMARY MEPPI\'s Transportations Systems Division (TSD) is looking for an experienced North American Sales Manager to focus on managing activities of the sales staff while developing and implementing sales plans and key account strategies to achieve division goals and objectives. In addition, the successful candidate will successfully negotiate terms and conditions and identify future business opportunities. The ideal candidate will have experience selling OEM products, software and aftermarket support with a proven sales and negotiation background within the rail/transportation industry. This role will be based out of the Pittsburgh, PA office. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Manage day-to-day sales activities of the sales department. Lead staff according to Company policies and procedures to effectively achieve Company and department objectives. Develop employees by training, cross training, and providing continuing education opportunities. Conduct performance reviews and provide input for salary decisions.
  • Develop and execute sales plans. Perform tasks associated with identifying leads, generating proposals, and closing sales of division products and services.
  • Work with department managers to ensure accurate estimates and proposals and to meet specific profit goals for group.
  • Create customer sales proposals, including preparation of proposal documentation.
  • Plan and monitor short- and long-term goals for the sales department that reflect the General Manager\xe2\x80\x99s sales and profit goals for the division.
  • Lead the sales staff in developing strategies for closing sales and achieving the profit and sales objectives of the division.
  • Create, review, and approve bid estimate worksheets before management review and ensure proper project turnovers.
  • Supervise contract negotiations performed by the sales department and negotiate sales contracts directly where needed. Ensure the best possible Terms and Conditions are negotiated on TSD\xe2\x80\x99s behalf.
  • Visit customers to strengthen relationships and to make presentations on products and services.
  • Research and communicate competitive information to the General Manager and MELCO.
  • Oversee the design, development, maintenance, and implementation of TSD\xe2\x80\x99s commercial website, advertising programs and marketing communications.
  • Identify and select appropriate industry conferences and trade shows for TSD participation. Direct the planning and execution aspects of TSD\xe2\x80\x99s participation and trade show events.
  • Conduct product demonstrations, including the arrangement of required equipment.
  • Create sales presentation materials relevant to targeted projects. Coordinate internal and external resources to gather required technical and market information to prepare effective presentation materials.
  • Assist the General Manager with business planning.
  • Further the goals and positive, professional image of the Transportation Systems Division by conducting business with other MEPPI divisions, visitors, and callers in a timely and cooperative manner.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Engineering, Marketing, or Business with a minimum 10 years of experience in rail transit industry sales/marketing and a minimum 5 years of management experience, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Advanced interpersonal, communication, presentation and negotiation skills required to communicate with employees, vendors and customers.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to organize activities and work well in a team environment.
  • Advanced computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Office products.
