The New Business Coordinator is responsible for tasks associated with the New Business Department\'s responsibility to process requests for new water and wastewater connections and to negotiate, prepare and closeout contracts for new water and wastewater main extensions and relocations of existing facilities.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Preparing agreement documents related to installation and/or relocation of existing water mains, sewer mains, fire hydrants and lift stations necessary to serve new developments.
  • Authorizing new work to the appropriate construction division and managing the collection and depositing of fees or required construction deposits and issuing release letters for Letters of Credit and Bonds submitted by Builders.
  • Coordinating with construction and maintenance divisions and outside engineers and builders to track builder main extension projects through completion and to achieve final cost certifications and asset dedications.
  • Reviewing water and sewer service requests. Including reviewing basic plans for conformance with Aqua requirements and providing customers with standard information on water availability, meter size, and type of service and monthly rates.

  • Preparing Will Serve letters for water service requests.
  • Compiling and organizing monthly data on water and wastewater New Business activities, including contracts, deposits processed, number of new services & laterals, pipe footage, etc. Share reports with Construction Managers for divisional workload management and scheduling.
  • Compiling information to prepare Pennsylvania Utility Commission (\xe2\x80\x9cPUC\xe2\x80\x9d) applications required for new territory applications related to New Business projects.
  • Opening funding projects for capital projects related to new wastewater services, and purchase orders for paying consultants. Reviewing and processing invoices for payment through SAP
  • Setting up CIAC projects and Fire Hydrants in Power Plan and SAP
  • Managing easement documents including coordination with consultant for recording easements, tracking, and organizing easement documents, uploading recorded easements to the asset management database and researching county records for easements and deeds.
  • Obtain notarization on new business documents as necessary.
  • Organize and maintain New Business files. Update the asset management database with project updates and with scanned executed and recorded documents.
  • Perform other assignments as directed.
Education Requirements
  • Associates degree or Certifications
Other Education Preferred
  • BA/BS Degree
Specialized Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills required.
  • Ability to learn to read engineering plans.
  • Ability to learn and interpret Aqua\xe2\x80\x99s water and wastewater tariffs, tariff Rules and Regulations, and Aqua PUC service territories.
  • Must be capable of making independent decisions on new water & wastewater service issues using Aqua tariffs as a basis.
  • Strong communication & collaborative skills in building consensus with Aqua operating department management, as well as, providing customer feedback on tariff issues.
  • Notary Public Certification or ability to obtain and maintain Notary Certification is preferred.
Professional Certification and Licenses
  • Notary Public or ability to obtain one preferred
Experience Level
  • 5-7 Years of Related Experience
Office Technology Level
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office suite: Word\xe2\x80\x9a Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Ability to review plans in Kofax or BlueBeam is preferred.
  • Ability to quickly learn Aqua\xe2\x80\x99s asset management database and Global Information System (\xe2\x80\x9cGIS\xe2\x80\x9d)
  • Proficiency in SAP and PowerPlan is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Banner is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Procure is preferred.
Communication Skills
  • Requires good verbal and written communication skills to communicate with developers, engineers, and Aqua customers not familiar with water and wastewater utilities.
Travel
  • Minimal travel (approximately 2-3 times per year) may be required of this position.
