About the Role
Hey there! We're looking for a solid Network Technician to join a state government IT team that supports critical county office locations. This isn't your typical "sit at a desk all day" tech job - you'll be the go-to person keeping network infrastructure and Office 365 environments running smoothly across multiple sites.
The organization recently went through some restructuring, and they need someone who can jump in, take ownership of problems, and deliver solutions without needing their hand held. If you're the type who sees a ticket and thinks "I've got this" rather than "who can help me with this?" - keep reading.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Day-to-Day Work:
Responding to and resolving help desk tickets for network issues (both wired and wireless)
Managing network account onboarding and offboarding through custom scripts
Troubleshooting infrastructure-related incidents across multiple county office locations
Driving around to different sites (mostly in Columbia, occasionally to other counties) to handle on-site issues
Supporting Microsoft administrative tasks including Entra ID (Azure AD), Group Policy, and Office 365
Assisting with Windows Server maintenance, monitoring, and patch management
On-Call Rotation:
You'll be part of a rotation that includes:
Level 1 Support: Every 3 weeks for critical site network outages
Level 2 Support: Alternating 3-week shifts for escalated issues at critical sites
Infrastructure Projects:
Helping with network rollouts, upgrades, and cleanup efforts
Participating in planning and executing infrastructure improvements
Keeping documentation and network asset inventory up to date

10+ years
of hands-on networking troubleshooting (wired and wireless networks)
5+ years
working with Microsoft Entra ID and general Microsoft administration
5+ years
with Windows Server environments
5+ years

Bachelor's degree (or equivalent work experience)
Valid Driver's License
- you'll be driving between sites regularly
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting
Strong communication and documentation skills
Nice to Have:
Experience with Deskpro ticketing system
Hands-on experience with Active Directory, DNS, and Group Policy
Experience with Ruckus or Brocade network switches
Important Details
This is a
fully onsite position
- no remote or hybrid options
You
must currently live in South Carolina
- we cannot consider relocation candidates
The role requires driving to various sites, so reliable transportation is a must
Looking for someone who can start December 1st, 2025
What Makes a Great Fit
We're looking for someone who:
Can take ownership of a problem and run with it until it's solved
Doesn't wait to be told what to do - sees what needs to be done and does it
Is comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
Has excellent troubleshooting instincts and can think on their feet
Communicates clearly with both technical and non-technical folks
Is okay with occasional on-call duties and driving around to different locations
