Field Network Deployment Technician

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient Field Network Deployment Technician to support on-site installation, configuration, and activation of networking equipment across various customer sites in Connecticut.

This is a hands-on field role involving hardware deployment, fiber installation, and real-time collaboration with remote engineering teams. The ideal candidate is a local CT-based technician with a solid foundation in networking (CCNA/CCNP), excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently in dynamic environments.

Key Responsibilities

Travel & Logistics

Report to the Windsor warehouse each workday to collect gear and materials. Travel to customer sites throughout Connecticut (mileage reimbursed). Plan daily routes strategically to minimize travel time and maximize site productivity. Coordinate access with site contacts in advance to ensure smooth on-site operations.
Site Preparation & Setup

Locate and prepare designated network or telecom rooms for installation work. Set up tools, MiFi hotspot, and connect to Webex bridge for live coordination with remote engineers. Follow technical direction in real-time from ePlus teams during installation and activation activities.
Hardware Installation

Rack and stack network switches (up to 40 lbs) using proper tools and techniques. Perform cable management, labeling, and documentation for all equipment installed. Console into switch chassis as needed to perform local configurations or software upgrades.
Fiber Handling & Connectivity

Properly handle, clean, and install fiber optic patch cables and optics modules. Follow instructions on connecting and disconnecting optics/fibers during migrations. Route and fish single fiber jumpers through complex cable environments with care. Maintain the integrity and cleanliness of fiber ends and ports at all times.
Technical Coordination

Understand and respond appropriately to network terminology and direction during Webex sessions. Share screens when needed for troubleshooting, upgrades, or confirmation with remote teams. Execute local configuration tasks under guidance from remote Network Operations.
Post-Deployment

Pack and secure all equipment and tools before departing each site. Maintain cleanliness and order at all job sites. Prepare for the next scheduled deployment with minimal downtime.

Qualifications

Required:

Local to Connecticut with ability to travel statewide (valid driver's license required). Strong hands-on experience with network switch installation and cabling. Working knowledge of fiber optics, handling, and cleaning best practices. CCNA or CCNP certification, or equivalent networking experience. Experience using Webex or similar collaboration platforms. Ability to lift and maneuver up to 50 lbs. Excellent verbal communication and problem-solving skills. Owns a basic set of tools suitable for field installation work.
Preferred:

Prior field deployment or data center installation experience. Familiarity with ePlus procedures, kits, and network deployment projects. Experience performing local switch software or firmware upgrades.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $40.00 - $55.00 per hour
