Position Purpose

The Sleep Number Infrastructure team is looking for a Network Engineering Manager to join our leadership team and manage one of our engineering teams. The responsibilities include supervising delivery for the team, helping engineers with professional development and contributing to our technology strategy. We\xc3\xa2\xc2\x80\xc2\x99ve been working on making our networking infrastructure (compute, virtualization and storage) more reliable, more self service oriented for backend engineers, cost effective and multi-cloud.

As a Network Engineering Manager at Sleep Number your primary responsibility is to the people you support: ensuring that they are growing as engineers, doing valuable work and generally having a great time. As a lead for strong engineers in technical leadership and a solid background in both on-prem and cloud infrastructure is a must, so is your ability to challenge and grow your team members. You will have the opportunity to influence the culture, facilitate technical delivery and work with your team on strategy and execution.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Drive and be accountable for technical delivery and work with your team on strategy and execution
  • Facilitate collaboration with other engineers and product managers in solving interesting and challenging problems across the platform
  • Advocate and advance modern, agile software development practices and help develop and evangelize great engineering and organizational practices.
  • Grow the technical expertise of your team through various development methods
  • Lead, manage, coach and/or mentor infrastructure engineers/developers towards delivering timely, high quality software
  • Build proper security and controls to mitigate risk and meet regulation to the network and telephony infrastructure
  • Manage product budget, contracts, and vendors in a cost and stability effective way
PositionRequirements
  • Bachelor\xc3\xa2\xc2\x80\xc2\x99s degree in information technology, computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in managing IT infrastructure and services.
  • Experience with enterprise class computing, virtualization and storage platforms.
  • Proficient in server hardware, operating systems, VMware, modern storage platforms and IT security.
  • Proficient in edge computing, including Azure and AWS cloud platforms.
  • Management and leadership skills.
  • Multi-tasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Agile development environment experience
  • Prior engineering background
  • Ability to work flexible hours based on the team\'s and company\'s needs
