Network Architect The Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF), an award-winning public pension fund, is offering a great opportunity for the right person who has excellent Microsoft technical experience and communications skills.
IMRF is seeking a Network Architect who possesses a strong understanding of architecting and configuring Microsoft Windows OS technology. This position has a focus in AD Forests, Domains, Trusts, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy and Organizational Units. The position will join an existing department of over twenty infrastructure technology staff and will report to the Network Services Team Lead. This team supports our mission critical business systems, workstations, telecom, SQL, security, VMware, core switching, firewalls, and load balancers.
IMRF has an enterprise-wide modernization initiative in progress, which will completely replace our current applications with Line of Business, CRM, ECM, and BI applications integrated in a flexible Service Oriented Architecture. Key technology platform components of the new solution include VMware, SQL Server, Windows Server, Cisco networking, enterprise SAN, and Avaya VOIP.

Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and resolve Active Directory, GPOs, Certificate Services, and password/identity management systems.
\xc2\xb7 Assist in management and support of internal and external DNS systems, internal DHCP architecture and scoping. \xc2\xb7 Perform Microsoft server maintenance, upgrades, and apply configuration and security standards/policies within a defined Change Management process. \xc2\xb7 Review domain level rights and privileges and perform changes to the same where appropriate. \xc2\xb7 Design and deploy Group Policy Objects as requested to ensure compliance of company policies for servers and user end-point devices. \xc2\xb7 Serve as a technical expert for the tier 1 server/workstation support group. \xc2\xb7 Plan and execute Active Directory Domain level upgrades. \xc2\xb7 Monitor and manage network/server security and performance in SolarWinds and other automated tools. \xc2\xb7 Create and update technical documentation of Infrastructure procedures as needed. \xc2\xb7 Participate in the patch management of all Microsoft servers o Weeknight and Weekend work is performed as an overtime function scheduled as needed. Our outage windows are scheduled weeknights after 6pm and all weekends \xc2\xb7 Collaborate in assessing current and expected Microsoft Windows infrastructure needs, configuration, maintenance, and optimization. \xc2\xb7 Work with stakeholders and other technical teams to collect business and technical requirements and design/deliver enterprise level solutions. \xc2\xb7 Own and lead discussions in business and technical information technology solution implementations, upgrades, enhancement and conversions. Recommend solutions as appropriate.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree required
AND
8+ years of experience in IT support, networking, and Microsoft domain administration Certifications that pertain to area of emphasis are preferred: - Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate - Former MCSA, MCSE
