Naval Architect - Gold Coast Yachts, Inc. For 40 years, Gold Coast Yachts - located on beautiful St. Croix, United States Virgin Islands - has been a premier builder of high-end, commercial and private, sailing and power, fiberglass/carbon fiber, multi-hull yachts 41' to 100' in length. Responsibilities encompass concept, preliminary and detailed design of regulatory compliant vessels that are custom designed to suite individual client needs. You will see the vessels through the first drawing to vessel delivery while incorporating client & Production requested modifications. Job Type: Full-time, on site - Christiansted, St. Croix, USVI - with occasional travel requirements; remote work is not feasible
Pay: $93,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year, hourly with time and a half overtime; determined by ability

Requirements
- B.S. degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or related degree
- Minimum two (2) years of professional experience in vessel design
- Legally allowed to work in USA (no sponsorship is currently available)
- Thorough understanding of naval architecture including structures, hydrostatics, hydrodynamics, vibrations, ship motions, intact & damaged stability, human engineering, general arrangements, etc.
- Proficient with CAD design software such as Rhino 3D
- Experience with creating 3D models to develop 2D construction drawings
- Experience with rules-based design including ABS, DNV, and USCG CFR Subchapter T
- Proficient in email communication, MS Excel, MS Word, and MS Access
- Experience with direct Production support in the yard
Preferences
- Experience with composite design and manufacturing including epoxy, fiberglass, carbon fiber, cored laminates, wet bagging, infusion
- Experience with multi-hull design
- Experience with sailing rig design (spar, standing, running)
- Experience with CFD assisted hull, appendage, and superstructure design
- Experience with component optimization for buildability
- Experience with mold tooling design and fabrication
- Experience with proposals, client relations, clean sheet vessel design from concept through detailed design
- Experience with mechanical, plumbing, AC and DC electrical design/vessel integration
- Experience with resistance & propulsion design
