The Nature Educator leads outdoor, nature-based learning experiences that foster curiosity, environmental stewardship, and hands-on exploration. This role integrates experiential learning with The Oaks Academy's educational philosophy, encouraging students to connect with the natural world. This is a 12-month, full-time position.

Responsibilities




Plan and lead nature education focused on nature, science, and environmental awareness during the school day, after school, and in summer programming.

Facilitate hands-on, inquiry-based learning experiences for students, fostering respect for nature, promoting responsible environmental practices Integrate lessons with classroom learning when appropriate Maintain outdoor learning spaces and materials (grounds, equipment, structures, and natural artifacts) Communicate lesson goals and student experiences with staff and families as needed Plan and facilitate summer programming Collaborate with other Oaks Plus coordinators Model and teach habits that help students grow in wisdom, compassion, and Christ-like maturity Maintain a safe and engaging learning environment to help students develop a lifelong love of learning, ensuring student dafety during all outdoor activities Ensure students thrive as they develop strong relationships with God, others, ideas, and the world Know and love each student and family to promote their continued growth and development Facilitate student engagement with ideas and develop principled, critical thinking Actively participate in meaningful, ongoing professional learning

Requirements:
Background in environmental education, outdoor education, science, or a related field Experience teaching or leading groups of children outdoors Digital competencies, including common software and online tools Strong classroom and group management skills in outdoor settings Able to work in various weather conditions Passion for nature-based and experiential education Bachelor's degree preferred * Devout Christian who is a member of, associated with, or seeking to be associated with, a Christ-centered community of faith or a church
