Job Description


The General Manager is responsible for coordinating others and balancing the needs of multiple departments in the facility. They will provide leadership and vision to their reports and other staff and assist the President of the company in all facility operations and floor management duties. The General Manager is the facilities\' \xe2\x80\x9csecond-in-command\xe2\x80\x9d. As the General Manager, you\xe2\x80\x99ll work closely with the President of the company to meet the venue\xe2\x80\x99s financial objectives by devising operational plans (and tracking their performance), developing budgets, and creating sales/marketing plans that support the overall objectives of the company. You will help watch the bottom line\xe2\x80\x94reviewing weekly/monthly P&L statements, controlling costs in all operations-related areas (including labor), and working with the management team to develop action plans that actively grow revenue. The General Manager will oversee the day-to-day of Oxford Athletic Club by scheduling, planning, and organizing work, clearly communicating goals, and ensuring that all staff are familiar (and in compliance with) the appropriate standards and procedures. Along with the President (and in her absence), the General Manager will help hire, train, and support our venue staff, supervising and directing the regular training of all staff in areas such as F&B operations, member and customer service, fitness and tennis. The General Manager will assists the President in the overall administration, management, sales, and operations of all programs. Duties:

  • Assists in the development of the financial and operational plans for the Oxford Athletic Club team, including the expense plans and targets per department and overall business and operational performance improvement plans per department.
  • Drives daily performance accountability across all areas while reinforcing a team-oriented, customer-focused approach.
  • Owns standardization and leads disciplined process for identifying, testing, and verifying improvement opportunities.
  • Responsible for the review and approval of department and overall staffing plans.
  • Responsible for talent development, providing direction for and leading performance management and development amongst management teams.
  • Supervises associate relations functions within the facility including hiring, terminating, performance management, development and training of team members.
  • Establishes and maintains positive work environment creating engagement with team members.
  • Coaches and mentors Lead Team members as well as all staff.
  • Monitors performance and productivity measures for the purpose of maximizing earnings and expense in the facilities.
  • Reviews and monitors standard operating procedures; makes observations and recommends improvements to promote efficiency in the facility earnings
  • Maintains product and service quality standards by conducting ongoing evaluations and investigating complaints
  • Ensures good safety practices of employees and guests, assisting in the maintenance of proper emergency and security procedures
  • Intervene, assist and document instances of member, customer and employee incidents
  • Plans, organizes, and monitors the work of others
  • Responsibilities include recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems

Qualifications
  • Requires broad training in fields such as business administration, accountancy, sales, marketing, computer sciences or similar vocations generally obtained through completion of a four-year bachelor\'s degree program or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • Must have at least 8-10 years of experience at a managerial level
  • Ability to work effectively with others in a team-oriented environment
  • Ability to travel to, and oversee over 200 employees
  • Experience in a health club, fitness facility, sports environment is a requirement.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve individual selling goals and metrics
  • Proven ability to drive sales results, able to analyze selling reports, identify business trends and react quickly to the needs of the business
  • Comfortable and confident making decisions and mediating conflict within a team environment
  • Ability to address complex issues and allocate time to execute multiple tasks and changing priorities
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication and customer service skills

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS: \xc2\xb7 Must be able to lift 40-50 lbs. waist high \xc2\xb7 Will be required to stand for extended periods of time \xc2\xb7 Will be required to work indoors and outdoors year-round \xc2\xb7 Must be able to work independently in a busy environment \xc2\xb7 Must comply with safety and health code standards \xc2\xb7 Facility has intermittent noise \xc2\xb7 Able to run/walk as needed Job Type: Full-time Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year Benefits:
