The Millwright Helper is a laboring position working on industrial and commercial construction sites and engaged with a variety of tasks performed on the construction site. Assists mechanical trades under the direct supervision of a lead millwright, welder, pipefitter, ironworker, or crew foreman. Has ability to cut and shape metals with powered hacksaws, grinders, and/or an oxy-fuel torch. Efficiently assembles and disassembles mechanical systems under the supervision of journey level craft worker or crew foreman.
Regardless of prior formal training or experience, a Millwright Helper must demonstrate the ability to carry out, or quickly learn, and competently execute all essential functions of the position on the job.
The position requires heavy physical work under all environmental conditions. Good physical conditioning is important to success in the position. Familiarity with the use of all common hand and power tools, as well as with precision measuring tools, is a pre-requisite.
The position requires travel within New England -- either a driver's license and reliable vehicle, or a practical alternative plan for getting to the jobsite, is a requirement of the job.
