NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs





If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs. If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.

What Your Job Will Be Like






We are seeking a General Technologist to work within a department that designs, develops, tests, integrates, and fields advanced concept systems for missile defense applications to address national defense needs. In addition to hardware design and development, you will assist in performing wide-ranging analyses of aerospace systems for internal and external customers. The successful candidate will be self-directed, highly motivated, innovative, organized, and possess the ability to lead a small team. The work is fast-paced and supports engineers on technical projects and products working from schematics, diagrams, layouts, or defined plans to perform testing, checkout, and troubleshooting functions.   • Assemble and test components, sub-systems, and full-up payloads and/or flight vehicles.
  • Support ground and flight test fielding operations.
  • Operate equipment, conduct tests, and report data in a prescribed format.
  • Research solutions to technical problems and recommend cost effective resolution approaches.
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant will work onsite. Ability to travel for extended periods in support of test and fielding operations.

Qualifications We Require




  • High School diploma, plus 3 years experience in relevant engineering, or technology fields.
  • Experience working in one of the following: laboratory, construction, landscaping, mechanical, electrical, pressure, firearms, vehicles (including heavy equipment), explosives, building and maintaining equipment, or other acute hazards.
  • Experience leading small teams and/or field project management.
  • Proven ability to read, analyze, and understand component design drawings, such as mechanical/electrical drawings, and engineering authorizations.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a required DOE Q-level security clearance.


Qualifications We Desire




  • Ability to support assembly, integration, test, and troubleshooting of mechanical and electromechanical assemblies at the system and component levels
  • Ability to read, analyze, and understand component design drawings, mechanical and electrical drawings, and engineering authorizations.
  • Experience and demonstrated skill in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions on problems affecting systems and equipment
  • Ability to work independently and as well as part of a team
  • Knowledge and demonstrated ability to utilize computer-aided design/drafting techniques, CAD modeling and design and high-level three-dimensional parametric CAD systems.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply GD&T, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, American National Standards Institute, and other appropriate standards for dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Knowledge of legal requirements and environmental impacts affecting equipment and systems maintenance and engineering.
  • Ability to interpret and apply knowledge and practical understanding of equipment and systems theory and principles.
  • Ability to use Sandia\'s engineering systems to retrieve drawings and engineering authorizations.
  • Ability to support integrated system design, development, and qualification
  • Proficiency with computer hardware and software
  • Experience working with classified and hazardous materials/hardware
  • Proven track record interacting with diverse teams

Security Clearance
