This exciting new role has the option of being based in our corporate office in Falmouth, Maine or our manufacturing facility in Manila, Arkansas. General Purpose: This position manages material inventory control for the Southworth US production facilities in Manila, Arkansas. This position is responsible for providing adequate material inventory data at the plant level aligning material supply and demand while collaborating with sales and engineering having a keen awareness of the company sales forecasts, product development, product changes, material demand and engineering initiatives. The position also works with the planning and procurement functions to ensure that materials are purchased in line with customer needs and that manufacturing planning is done to most efficiently manage material inventory levels. This position meets customer timelines and identifies opportunities to reduce inventory through efficient inventory management and the establishment of accurate inventory systems.
Responsibilities:

  • Manages inventory levels with daily maintenance and analysis of the Syteline MRP system and 3rd party inventory management system. Continuously calibrates appropriate safety stock levels, min/ max order quantities, material usage as compared to lead times and on-hand quantities providing for most efficient inventory control.
  • Evaluates which parts should be classified as stock items vs non-stocked items to optimize the appropriate balance between inventory and cost of inventory.
  • Works closely with master scheduler and production teams to ensure inventory levels are appropriate for manufacturing demand and that planning activities are completed in the most efficient manner relative to materials levels.
  • Works closely with the purchasing function to understand vendor dynamics and costs.
  • Collaborates with the Southworth commercial and engineering teams to use excess inventory, design in and design out parts to minimize obsolete inventory.
  • Collaborate with director of global supply chain and the Southworth finance department in achieving inventory volume targets, setting correct inventory levels, addressing excess, obsolete and slow moving inventory issues and reserve designation.
  • Collaborate with the Southworth finance team on excess and obsolete inventory reserve calculations and levels.
  • Coordinates with production planning and scheduling functions based on sales forecasts and engineering development.
  • Oversees Syteline system receiving and inventory procedures for the company\xe2\x80\x99s warehouses including ABC designation, cycle counts & corrective actions, continuous improvement of planning methods, and other related metrics.
  • Forecasts supply needs to eliminate avoidable stock-outs or over stocking. Determines appropriate safety stock levels
  • Looks for opportunities to optimize inventory and materials costs working with production, planning and procurement as appropriate to manage inventory levels.
  • Establishes and implements processes and systems for conducting and valuing year-end physical inventory.
  • Domestic travel to Southworth facilities estimated at 20%
Requirements:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Business Administration, Engineering or related field required
  • Five years of experience in materials control field required
  • CPIM Certified
  • Proficient with inventory reporting and ERP systems
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the proven ability to work well with all levels of management and staff
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
