Position: - Material Manager Location: - Greater Birmingham, AL Metro Area Salary: - $90K/Annum to $110K/Annum + Bonus + Relocation Assistance + Benefits Job Summary: Responsible for overseeing the Materials Department for all incoming and outgoing materials required to meet the customer\xe2\x80\x99s expectation. Manage inventory and purchasing procedures of raw materials and other supplies within the plant. Collaborate with other managers to determine supply needs, purchase supplies and materials according to specifications and coordinate and supervise receiving procedures. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: \xc2\xb7 Ensure material availability issues are proactively managed in a manner that does not impact production. \xc2\xb7 Ensure all scheduled events are occurring in a timely manner (i.e., Sending of releases, ASNs, pull sheets, cycle counts, etc.) \xc2\xb7 Establish and follow procedures that will assure that all premium freight costs are minimized. \xc2\xb7 Establish and follow procedures that will assure that material shortages do not impact production. \xc2\xb7 Eliminate obsolescence, develop & implement procedures to ensure obsolescence are minimized or eliminated. \xc2\xb7 Ensure that the materials team operates within its approved budget. \xc2\xb7 Provide professional customer service as direct liaison to customers from a materials perspective. \xc2\xb7 Provide Measurable data in various formats (charts, graphs, etc.). \xc2\xb7 Assure that material processes are in place and being always followed. \xc2\xb7 Provide direction and support to supervisory personnel in their responsibilities. \xc2\xb7 To facilitate the use of manpower in an efficient and effective manner. \xc2\xb7 To assure the use of quality policies, safety protocol, pull systems, JIT manufacturing, WPO, new program development and ISO standards always. \xc2\xb7 To track manpower and maintenance schedules with accumulated paperwork. \xc2\xb7 Oversee raises and hiring of materials personnel. \xc2\xb7 Provide effective communication between internal departments using e-mail and other written documentation. Education/Experience/Qualifications/Skills: \xc2\xb7 Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree or equivalent preferred in a technical, business, or financial discipline. \xc2\xb7 Automotive industry experience is required \xc2\xb7 3 to 5 years of experience in a JIT environment is preferred. \xc2\xb7 Previous materials scheduling experience required. \xc2\xb7 Experience in more than one of the following: QAD/MFG-Pro, Materials Scheduling, Problem Solving (8-D), Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, Error Proofing, and or Launch experience. \xc2\xb7 Ensure all material is being rotated in compliance with FIFO process. \xc2\xb7 Drive the use of CIT to eliminate waste and make process improvements.
