The steel fabrication Material Handler is responsible for managing the flow of materials within the fabrication facility. This includes receiving, storing, and distributing materials to various production areas. They ensure that materials are handled safely and efficiently to support the production schedule and meet quality standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience in material handling or warehouse operations, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Forklift certification and experience operating material handling equipment.
Knowledge of basic math and measurement principles.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to lift heavy objects and work in a physically demanding environment.
Commitment to safety and adherence to safety regulations.
Effective communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Transport materials within the facility using forklifts, cranes, or other equipment.
Handle materials carefully to prevent damage or injury.
Follow proper safety protocols for lifting and moving heavy loads.
Deliver materials to production areas according to the production schedule.
Coordinate with production supervisors to prioritize deliveries and ensure timely supply of materials.
Assist in quality control activities by inspecting materials for defects or damage.
Reject or quarantine materials that do not meet quality standards and communicate issues to appropriate personnel.
Perform basic maintenance tasks on material handling equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.
Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to maintenance staff.
Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safe work practices at all times.
Communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and other departments to coordinate material flow and resolve any issues or concerns that arise.
