SUMMARY: The manufacturing engineer is responsible for creating, documenting, developing and implementing procedures used to manufacture and test the company\'s products.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Assists manufacturing by providing support and basic trouble shooting for current operations. Leads root cause investigations to determine the source of process variance. Develops and implements improvement plans to achieve business plan goals related to safety, quality, productivity and reduced operating costs. * Leads and is accountable for manufacturing aspects of new product development and introduction including transition from design to manufacturing through ramp up, product costing, supplier involvement on part design, scheduling prototype and pilot runs, and management of parts orders for new design.

  • Works to improve the knowledge base of the company by maintaining a current and deep knowledge of manufacturing tools and methods. Supports the development and dissemination of lean manufacturing knowledge and techniques throughout the organization. Leads employee training and conducts Kaizen events at the direction of the Manufacturing Engineering Manager.
  • Prepares business cases for the purchase of new production equipment. Develops specifications and coordinates the bid process. Leads the installation, debugging, employee training and ramp up of new capital equipment.
  • Ensure safety procedures, work instructions and other company policies reflect the changing needs of the business.
  • Other duties as assigned.

PM21 Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES: * Bachelor\'s degree in manufacturing engineering with 1 to 3 years experience.
  • Experience with manufacturing methods and tools such as Lean, SPC, 6 Sigma
  • Understands how to map process flows using value stream mapping techniques
  • Ability to lead Kaizen events, conducting time studies and coaching line operators.
  • Experience in machine controls such as PLC and CNC.
  • Ability to meet and communicate effectively with vendors, employees and the general public in a professional manner.
  • Strong computer skills in Excel, Word.
  • Problem solving, decision making, time management skills; ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Background in CNC Tube Bending a plus
  • 3D design and Robot Studio a plus
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: * Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to maneuver production facility.
  • Ability to operate various office equipment including phones, copier, computer and fax machine.
