Position Overview The primary responsibility of the Level 1 Catering | Conference Manager is to coordinate details and menus for client\xe2\x80\x99s functions and maintain budgeted revenues through solicitation of business while controlling expenditures through proper distribution of information in the prescribed timelines to ensure maximum profitability of group operations and to ensure a superlative guest experience for both the Meeting Planner and the Group. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian | The Palazzo\xe2\x80\x99s policies, practices, and procedures. Reports to the Assistant Director of Catering | Conference Management. Essential Duties & Responsibilities \xc2\xb7 Oversees and is responsible for the planning, event execution, and post execution activities for all Assigned Group(s) including conducting pre and post con meetings and executing space leads as assigned. \xc2\xb7 Responsible for ensuring that Assigned Group Banquet Event Orders (BEO\xe2\x80\x99s) conform to Standardized BEO formats \xc2\xb7 Ensures that BEO Production and distribution targets are maintained or improved while also ensuring the accuracy of information and daily postings are posted/distributed to Operations for his/her groups \xc2\xb7 Attends all meetings when covering assigned groups and ensures that s/he has produced accurate information, BEO meeting, Weekly 14 day, Manager Weekly Internal \xc2\xb7 Ensures accuracy of the 14 day report & the Forecast 30, 60, 90 day reports in terms of correct cover counts and meal types for his/her groups and all groups are represented \xc2\xb7 Reviews Daily Group Log as soon as it is published and follows up/resolves on issues/concerns noted with the group \xc2\xb7 Is able to create, develop and deploy profitable themes / themed events, new and innovative concepts, social and meetings menus, d\xc3\xa9cor and services \xc2\xb7 Adheres to the standards in communicating all details of agreed functions to client and the internal team involved with servicing the events \xc2\xb7 Must be able to make sound customer focused yet prudent financial decisions when offering compensation when service failures occur \xc2\xb7 Maintains a High Presence/High Touch Rate on the Floor to ensure that his/her groups receive the highest quality experience \xc2\xb7 Supports and Encourages the Department through acts and deeds \xc2\xb7 Build strong relationships with new and repeat clients that create a lasting impression, help drive loyalty and repeat business \xc2\xb7 Performs additional duties as directed by senior management \xc2\xb7 Must be able to respond, resolve, and effectively manage group issues noted in post execution communication. \xc2\xb7 Must be able to assist the department to optimize both function profitability and guest satisfaction \xc2\xb7 Must be able to maintain a minimum of 90% Excellence Rating on the Meeting Planner Survey (as per the current 5 point scale) \xc2\xb7 Ensures that groups complete the Meeting Planner Survey \xc2\xb7 Ensures that his/her Comps are appropriately utilized and accounted for to promote Outstanding Customer Experiences and to promote The Venetian | The Palazzo | Sands Expo Brand \xc2\xb7 Actively Participates, Leads, and Inspires Team Members in the Daily Serenades \xc2\xb7 Participates in the research, development, evaluation and implementation of new products, services, technology and processes to ensure The Venetian | The Palazzo\xe2\x80\x99s competitive position and in anticipation of changing customer needs within the dynamic hospitality/gaming environment. \xc2\xb7 Oversight and responsibility to ensure that group planning activities meet or exceed standards and are properly managed to ensure operating departments are able to effectively control costs: Payroll, Food Costs, Beverage Costs, and Operating Expenses, achieve a minimum of 33% up sell on Contracted F&B minimum (annually) \xc2\xb7 Displays a passion for Guest Service and Operational Excellence at all times \xc2\xb7 Earns Respect and leads with respect \xc2\xb7 Promotes a atmosphere of Team Member Empowerment and Collaboration \xc2\xb7 Able to build strong lasting professional relationships with fellow Catering and Convention Management (CCM) team members \xc2\xb7 Able to build strong lasting professional relationships with all Operational Departments involved in Group Activities \xc2\xb7 Able to build strong lasting relationships with new and repeat customers \xc2\xb7 Sensitive to individual needs \xc2\xb7 Creates / promotes a positive and professional work environment and team \xc2\xb7 Able to work across functional areas to improve ability to execute group needs \xc2\xb7 Is a role model for work ethic yet work life balance \xc2\xb7 Promotes teamwork and a culture of continuous improvement. \xc2\xb7 Safety is an essential function of this job. \xc2\xb7 Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this job. \xc2\xb7 Performs other related duties as assigned. Company Standards of Conduct All The Venetian Resort Team Members are expected to conduct and carry themselves in a professional manner at all times. Team Members are required to observe the Company\xe2\x80\x99s standards, work requirements and rules of conduct. Minimum Qualifications \xc2\xb7 21 years of age. \xc2\xb7 Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States. \xc2\xb7 High School Diploma or equivalent. \xc2\xb7 Prefer 1-year minimum experience as a Catering | Conference Manager working in a 500+ room Resort/Hotel. \xc2\xb7 Working knowledge of both Catering and Convention Services and working knowledge and understanding of Food and Beverage. \xc2\xb7 Must have a working knowledge of EBMS (preferred), Meeting Matrix (preferred), Word, Excel, and MS Outlook. \xc2\xb7 Excellent communication skills both written and oral formats required. \xc2\xb7 Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience. \xc2\xb7 Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays. Physical Requirements Must be able to: \xc2\xb7 Lift or carry 50 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks, as assigned. \xc2\xb7 Physically access all areas of the property and drive areas with or without a reasonable accommodation. \xc2\xb7 Maintain composure under pressure and consistently meet deadlines with internal and external customers and contacts. \xc2\xb7 Ability to interact appropriately and effectively with guests, management, other team members, and outside contacts. \xc2\xb7 Ability for prolonged periods of time to walk, stand, stretch, bend and kneel. \xc2\xb7 Work in a fast-paced and busy environment. \xc2\xb7 Work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, CRT, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.
