The Position
Management Analysts conduct a variety of studies, research and analysis of management and administrative areas such as budgeting and financial analysis; departmental operations; legislative analysis; management research; and statistical and informational analysis.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This is a position in the Financial Management Unit within the Department of Employment, Training & Rehabilitation (DETR). In total, there are 31 employees in Financial Management, all located in Carson City. The Unit is proactive, open to new ideas, collaborative, and is putting cutting edge work processes in place for budgeting, project management, and policy analysis. The position is a member of the Unit's management team, reports directly to the Administrative Services Officer 1 in Administration, and is actively involved in steering the strategic direction of our office. The major responsibilities of the incumbent will include accounting functions, oversight and analysis of budget accounts, budget development and review, grant management, and submitting required financial reports to our federal partners. Other duties include developing, monitoring and reviewing complex contracts, grants, and cost allocations and recommending approval or modification to contracts based on governing laws and regulations. They will also review, monitor and research bills submitted to the Legislature impacting the work unit and inform management of possible implications and recommend an appropriate course of action. The incumbent leads monthly meetings in which budget updates are provided to Department leadership and policy initiatives are discussed. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in public or business administration, finance, social sciences, mathematics or related field and two years of professional experience in the research, development, evaluation or revision of programs, organizations, methods or procedures; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and four years of professional experience as described above; OR one year of experience as a Management Analyst I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
This position requires a State of Nevada/FBI fingerprint-based background check as a condition of appointment and as condition of continuing employment.
