Environmental Services - Maintenance

Reports To: Campus Director / Village Manager

Summary of Responsibilities:

The Maintenance position has overall responsibility for ensuring the facility is maintained in excellent condition, both inside and out, and is fully functional. All responsibilities will be conducted in a manner that is consistent with the philosophy of The Neighborhoods.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Performs maintenance functions inside and outside the facility. Responds to reported maintenance/problems. Inspects facility for potential maintenance problems. Orders and maintains maintenance supplies (lights, paint, etc.). Maintains all equipment in good working function. Maintains outdoor grounds. Demonstrates an appreciation of the heritage, values, and wisdom of the residents and an understanding of the aging process.

Other Duties:

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Experience in performing maintenance functions. Must be able to work flexible hours. Must possess a valid driver's license. If required, a Commercial Driver's License. Must be able to relate to residents and staff in a courteous and diplomatic manner under all circumstances.

Working Conditions:

Exposed to body fluids, infection, odors, and behavior of residents. Exposed to chemicals/cleaning solutions.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to lift/push up to 75 pounds. Must be able to lift, carry, stand, bend, squat, crawl, reach, kneel, push, pull, and twist using good body mechanics for sustained periods of time. Must be able to walk approximately 4 miles daily. Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be full met. Must not have any health conditions that prevent meeting the requirements of this position (e.g., allergies that prevent outside work during certain times of the year).
