The fundamental reason this classification exists is to maintain cleanliness and functionality of recreational facilities by performing custodial duties, minor repairs, and groundskeeping. Responsibilities include cleaning and sanitizing various areas like gyms and locker rooms, maintaining grounds by picking up litter, mowing, and setting up for events.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Maintenance workers are expected to be adaptable and willing to work in different areas or roles as needed:
General cleaning: Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and buffing floors; dusting furniture and fixtures; and cleaning windows, walls, and restrooms.
Sanitation: Disinfecting surfaces, cleaning and sanitizing fixtures (sinks, toilets, urinals), and restocking supplies like soap and paper towels.
Trash removal: Collecting and disposing of waste and recyclables from all areas, and cleaning and relining bins.
Stock and maintain restroom supplies and notify supervisor of items needed.
Stock and maintain custodian supplies and notify supervisor of items needed.
Other Duties as assigned by supervisor.
Ability to:
Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Establish priorities for own workload based upon such factors as the need for immediate action and work objectives.
Understand and comply with oral and written instructions in the English language.
Communicate orally with co-workers in face-to-face one-on-one settings, or using a telephone or two-way radio.
Work cooperatively with other City employees.
Work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.
Work Environment:
Employee is regularly required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, or crawl.
The employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms and must frequently lift and move items up to 50 pounds.
Requirements:
Position requires the use of City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and maintain an acceptable driving record.
This position is subject to the City of Liberal's Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy which includes one or more of the following: pre-employment testing, post-accident testing, reasonable suspicion testing, and follow-up testing. Ability to successfully pass a background check and any other pre-employment screenings.
