Position Summary: The Maintenance Technician reports to the Maintenance Manager and is a key support position for maintaining the physical plant of the school.
Specific Duties Include:
Responsible for completing work orders assigned by the Maintenance Manager. Work orders may include miscellaneous building maintenance such as repairing, maintaining and/or replacing doors, door hardware, window coverings, floor tile, ceiling tile, teaching boards, furniture, light fixtures and emergency lights/ bulbs/ballasts, switches, outlets, lavatories, toilets, urinals, water fountains, soap & towel dispensers, etc.
Assemble various equipment to include shelving units, furniture, etc.
Receive and distribute freight deliveries, move furniture and equipment
Assist with sheetrock, painting and light carpentry projects
Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of assigned vehicle, to include washing and cleaning of inside and outside of vehicle
Responsible for adhering to departmental safety regulations
Responsible for creating work order requests when obvious maintenance work needs to be done
Responsible for specific jobs as assigned by Maintenance Manager or other supervisory employees
Responsible for advising Maintenance Manager of any safety hazard, on site contractor problems, or any suspicious activity
Responsible for operation and maintenance of a variety of hand and power tools, ensuring they are in safe and efficient working order
Must be able to respond to emergencies, and on occasion work overtime which could require work time beyond the scheduled hours including weekends
Other duties as assigned
Required Skills:
Capable of performing a wide variety of tasks that ensure the facilities are maintained in a safe and effective manner
Must have a good working knowledge of all building material
Must have a valid Georgia Driver's License and an acceptable 5 year MVR
Must be able to safely carry a minimum of 50lbs
Must have the ability to climb step and extension ladders
Must have knowledge of or the ability to learn the use of aerial lifts
Must have a general knowledge and be familiar with using power and hand tools.
Experience in basic electrical and carpentry skills a must
Must have the ability to work efficiently and independently
Minimum Job Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years experience in maintenance, construction or related job field
The Maintenance Technician, Facilities position is a non-exempt, twelve month position. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Benefits are substantial. EOE
