Responsibilities

Under general supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, leads and participates in the work of crews engaged in variety of plant maintenance and equipment maintenance activities, and performs related work as required or assigned.

Performs maintenance work at the Maintenance I Classification and oversees the work of a maintenance crew and labor personnel. Carries out assigned work and exercises independent judgement to complete assigned tasks. Observes, monitors, trains, assigns, and makes recommendations to the Maintenance Supervisor regarding the work of personnel assigned to a crew, shop, or team as requested. Provides written or oral information regarding the performance of personnel as requested.

Oversees workers and participates in maintaining and repair of all associated plant production equipment.

Oversees workers and participates in maintaining and repairing utility systems, such as electrical wiring and controls, heating, plumbing, pumping, and ventilation systems.

Acquires needed tools, equipment, permits, and supplies.

Ensures all work is performed safely and in accordance with codes and safety regulations.

Inspects completed work.

Directs, trains, and evaluates personnel.

Prioritizes and directs maintenance crews and personnel as needed.

Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

Possesses strong verbal and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

Educational Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent. Prefer two years maintenance experience (strongly preferred in a manufacturing environment) or two years post high school training or combination of both.

Equipment:

Multimeter, amp probe, lathe, mill, bench top grinder, drill press, other testing equipment, bench and hand power tools, numerous types of powered equipment, control panels, and safety equipment.

Protective Equipment:

Must be able to wear work uniform, personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields, heat resistant sleeves as needed, hearing protection; metatarsal steel-toed shoes; blue leather, blue hynit, or white cotton gloves, and respirator as required by Lead in Air\'s in the department.

Housekeeping:

Responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly work area where maintenance work is being performed.

Facilities/Working Environment:

Will be exposed to extreme hot, humid, and cold working conditions. Will be exposed to lead in the form of dust, fumes, molten lead, flames, hot equipment, moving equipment, and other hazards.

Personal Hygiene:

Must be able to follow work instructions and procedures satisfactorily enough to ensure that high blood leads do not lead to medical removal. Adherence to General Policy includes shower and shampoo at the end of each work shift.
