Job Description


SUMMARY Formsprag Clutch is seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer to oversee mechanical, electrical, and systems troubleshooting & repair, preventive maintenance on equipment in accordance with manufacturer\'s manuals, diagrams, sketches, etc, and coordinate various types of maintenance projects. Candidate will need to have the ability to multi-task, manage projects, and work independently in a fast-paced work environment to not only handle the day-to-day maintenance needs of the operation, but to lead the coordination of close-out tasks associated with Continuous Improvement Events (Kaizen Events). Attention to detail with strong organizational skills is a must.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain manufacturing & facility equipment by coordinating the repair & regular maintenance.
  • Implement, establish, and train to a thorough preventative maintenance program for manufacturing and facility equipment.
  • Implement, establish, and train to a Maintenance Work Order program.
  • Formalize Kaizen Event follow-up by designing and executing a system to log incomplete tasks and drive completion to a schedule. Track and priorities the actions with the overall equipment plan including repairs, TPM and capital deployment activities.
  • At the direction of the Operations Manager & Manufacturing Engineering Manager, act as the representative of the maintenance department at GEMBA walks, other meetings, and situations deemed necessary.
  • Execute identification, definition, budgeting, procurement, and inventory of spare parts. Maintain the parts and material replenishment process for equipment repair in order to reduce/minimize down time of production.
  • Facilitate and ensure the improvement activities of the equipment and provide support for manufacturing to improve quality, productivity and safety.
  • Working with the Manufacturing Engineering department, provide technical & project management support for new projects and processes during the procurement, commissioning and acceptance phases.
  • Prioritize the day-to-day tasks of the maintenance department personnel, when necessary, coordinating with the Operations Manager.
  • Maintain required documentation and files for equipment. This includes all prints and detailed information needed to document the equipment is properly maintained. Archive equipment service reports from outside vendors to ensure a complete history is retrievable as needed.
  • Manage Near-Miss/Corrective Action program as it relates to maintenance.
  • Train operators and technicians in equipment maintenance.
  • Assists with planning and implementing plant improvements and expansions.
  • Effectively communicate and coordinate with other departments to complete complex projects through meetings, presentations, and e-mail.
  • Execute other relevant tasks as assigned by the Operations Manager and the Manufacturing Engineering Manager.
  • Professionally represent Formsprag Clutch in scheduling work and otherwise dealing with outside contractors and other external contacts as needed.
  • Use Company P-card to order supplies, services, and parts as required.
  • Use sound judgement to first level approve invoices.
  • Work with leadership and other internal customers to accomplish organizational goals.
Job Requirements:
Critical Competencies
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and advanced knowledge of arithmetic; use of decimals, fractions, gauges or measuring instruments.
  • Strong technical background is required to troubleshoot systems, machinery, and test equipment.
  • Proven experience in project management, including planning, communication, execution, and close out of all aspects related to project management.
  • Must be motivated, self-directed and able to work well in both a team & individual environment.
  • Must be able to read and work to blueprints (Mechanical & Civil), equipment manuals, and work instructions.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in a related field
  • At least 5 years working experience in industrial or equipment maintenance
  • Understand the related principles of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to write reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively & professionally to associates of the organization.
  • Experience in the use and care of a variety of tools, equipment, and machines are essential.
  • Working knowledge of all the construction trades is required, including electrical wiring, electronic controls, machining, plumbing, hydraulics, and pneumatic systems.
