CUSTODIAN MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST:
Responsible for maintenance at the Head Start Centers. Performs custodial duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
:
High school diploma/GED
One (1) years' experience in custodial functions
Ability to read and write
Basic knowledge of building maintenance.
Knowledge of using heavy cleaning equipment such as shampooers, buffers, floor stripper etc.
Basic knowledge of various cleaning supplies and their use.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (Not Inclusive):
DAILY:
Remove trash from building and reline all trashcans.
Sweep and wet mop all surface floors and disinfect. Wax as needed.
Scrub and disinfect all fixtures in restrooms, toilets, sinks, urinals and spot clean walls.
Restock all restrooms with hand soap and paper goods.
Restock classroom with paper towels.
Vacuum all carpeted areas and spot clean. Shampoo as needed.
Clean and disinfect water fountains.
Keep janitor's closet and supply rooms clean and free from debris.
Change mop water daily as needed.
WEEKLY

Scrub all trashcans or as needed.
Dust all window seals, bookshelves and ledges.
Clean and disinfect tile walls.
Wash windows as needed.
Replace light bulbs as needed.
Clean light fixtures, baseboards, etc.
OTHER:
Attend training to enhance custodial skills.
General maintenance of air conditioners.
Keep playgrounds and surrounding areas clean and free of debris.
Always keep all sidewalks clean and safe.
Assist staff when supplies are needed.
Inform Center Directors when supplies are needed.
Keep Center Director aware of repairs that are needed. (i.e. lighting, heating, etc.)
Works with Maintenance Supervisor in a through cleaning of all Head Start Centers when needed, which may include but not limited to, painting, light carpentry, light carpentry, light plumbing, replacing tile, etc. Must be willing to work at different Head Start Centers as needed.
Must always follow safety precautions.
Other duties as assigned.
JOB CHARACTERISTICS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position is exempt from overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act. This is a professional position, which requires organizational and communication skills, as well as judgment, tact and diplomacy in contacts with Head Start employees, community residents, parents and local government agencies. Strict adherence is required to all regulations concerning confidentiality.
Good general health and ability to lift and carry 55 lbs. are essential.
TB skin test and physical are required at offer to hire. Physical may be required every five years.
Background investigation to include fingerprinting is required.
Frequent travel is required. Proof of valid driver's license and car insurance is required.
Must be able to perform essential job duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
