Van-Am Tool & Engineering is seeking a

Machine Shop Supervisor

to lead our team of machinists in a fast-paced metal fabrication environment. This role is responsible for overseeing daily operations in the machine shop, ensuring production goals are met while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.

What You'll Do

Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of machinists, ensuring safe, efficient, and accurate production. Plan and assign workloads to support customer requirements and production schedules. Provide technical guidance and support on machining processes, setups, and equipment operation. Train, mentor, and develop machinists, fostering growth in technical skills and problem-solving. Monitor workflow and quality, addressing issues quickly to minimize downtime and rework. Partner with engineering, quality, and production teams to ensure parts meet specifications and timelines. Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient machine shop environment.

What We're Looking For

Education/Experience

: High school diploma or GED required. Technical degree or journeyman machinist certification preferred. Minimum 3-5 years of machining experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.

Skills

: Strong knowledge of machining principles, blueprint reading, GD&T, and precision measuring equipment. Effective leadership, coaching, and communication skills. Ability to organize work, solve problems, and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Other Requirements

: Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
