The person selected for this position will be responsible for carrying out all the duties necessary for the day-to-day middle school lunch and after school care operations. The lunch and after school teacher is responsible to supervise students by sight and sound and ensure their health and safety at all times. This person will work under the direct supervision of the principal. The hours for the position are as follows: part time shift Monday - Friday 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM. This is a year-round position.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Supervises students during lunch and after school to ensure their safety at all times.
  • Plan and organize after-school arts, crafts, games, and outdoor activities.
  • Monitor and maintain the proper teacher-to-student ratio.
  • Assist in implementing the daily program under the supervision of team lead.
  • Responsible for the set-up and cleanliness of the auditorium.
  • Assist in supervision during outdoor activities.
  • Supervise and interact with students.
  • Assist students with questions on homework during study time.
  • Use proper tone and language when commutating with students, families and staff.
  • Assist in overall classroom behavior under the direct supervision.
  • Submit a weekly lesson plan to your principal/team lead.
  • Maintain a professional attitude.
  • Treat all children with dignity and respect, showing patience at all times.
  • Attend all staff meetings and training programs.
  • Maintain a friendly and positive attitude toward students, parents, and staff.
  • Cooperate in the maintenance of interpersonal relationships, refrain from gossiping.
  • Alert to the needs of others, students, and co-workers.

Skills/Knowledge/Education:
High school graduate or GED
High school occupational program
Previous experience working with children, preferably in an after-school or tutoring setting
